Maya Sumbadze
B. 1972 Maya Sumbadze lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1994-97 she studied at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and in 1993-94 at Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Artist works in numerous mediums: painting, drawing, video, installation, audio, computer graphics. She draws inspiration from pictures imprinted on her childhood memories; colors, forms, lighting and sounds in her surroundings. The source of her inspiration is also the atmosphere created in daily life, working materials, which they themselves dictate to the artist what form to give to the picture.
Maya Sumbadze is a part of the art group “Goslab.”
